Coalition for Financial Literacy in the Commonwealth
Kentucky has mandated a course in financial literacy for high school graduation. House Bill 132 was signed into law on April 2, 2018. In response, the EKU Center for Economic Education is collaborating with Abdullah Al-Bahrani (NKU), Mary Ann Vimont (UK), and Janet Ratliff (Morehead State) through the newly formed Coalition for Financial Literacy in the Commonwealth to become involved with the writing of standards, training of teachers, and assessment of students. We are planning more teacher PD events like the Off and Running event we co-hosted at Keeneland on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
Teachers…save the date for next year! We are beginning to plan another great day for Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
To hear more about the work of our Coalition for Financial Literacy in the Commonwealth and connections to the business community, tune in to Tom Martin’s “Eastern Standard” broadcast on WEKU (live-streamed at esweku.com) on July 5, 11:00 am – Noon or view a podcast of the show online after it airs.
